The Bird

The emu is a native bird of Australia. This bird specie also exists in other countries including Japan, Canada, and China, just to name a few. Along with the kiwi and the ostrich, the emu is a flightless bird belonging to the ratite family. Despite the bird’s modern appearance, they have been known to exist since the dinosaur era, which is an estimated 80 million years ago.

As a native bird of Australia, the emu was first seen with many benefits by the aborigines or the indigenous people of Australia. The bird became their source of their basic needsfood, clothing, and eventually, remedies of numerous physical diseases.

Rip Van Emu

Yesterday was day 50 for the emu eggs (gestation is 48 - 52 OR 50 - 55 days, depending on which authority you go with). We are quite certain that at least one of the eggs he is sitting on has gone "bad", but the others are unknown.
